What took them so long to find out?
Social nudity might make you happier, according to a new study from Goldsmiths University of London.
Researchers surveyed 849 people, and found that those who had spent time in the nude outdoors with other people were happier, felt better about their bodies, and had higher self-esteem than those who didn’t shed their clothes. Continue reading

Topless protests in Argentina

Hundreds of women are expected to take to the streets topless in several Argentinian cities Tuesday, claiming their right to enjoy a day at the beach bare-chested “just like men do.”
The so-called “Tetazos” protest follows a week of escalating tensions over an incident in which three women sunbathing topless on a public beach were ordered by cops to put their bikini tops back on.
And although a judge ruled that topless sunbathing on a public beach is allowed, the controversy is far from over.
More power to you girls, we say. Fight on, and maybe one day, just like us, you’ll lose those bikini bottoms too !

Half of Brits would dare to bare.

MORE than half of British holidaymakers would consider going on a nudist holiday, stripping off to sunbathe or visiting a naturist beach, according to a new report.

The survey from the lastNudist Brit Girlminute.com website revealed that more than a third of British men (35 per cent) said they would consider naked sunbathing this year and 14 per cent would go on a naturist holiday.

However, for women the corresponding figures were 17 per cent and six per cent.

Around eight per cent of those surveyed had been on a naturist holiday, but a third (33 per cent) of self-confessed nudists admitted to keeping it secret from friends, family and colleagues.

The most popular reason to bare all on the beach was to achieve an all-over tan (42 per cent), while 21 per cent did it to “reconnect with nature” and a fifth (20 per cent) wanted to “step out of their comfort zone”.

Andrew Welch, from British Naturism, the UK’s umbrella organisation for the pastime, said: “For those visiting a nudist beach for the first time, the best advice is to relax.

“Enjoy the sensation of the sun, breeze and sea on your whole body and realise that no-one is worried about how you look.”

Terror gang targets German nudists

Nudists were told they would be ‘exterminated’ after a gang of Muslims stormed into a German swimming pool yelling ‘Allahu Akbar’.
Bathers at a nudist beach in northwest Germany say they were insulted and threatened by a group of “Mediterranean-looking men,” one of whom reportedly shouted “Allahu Akhbar” at them.
Staff at the Freibad Xantener Südsee said they were forced to call the police after the men refused to stop abusing naked bathers at the resort, which is near the town of Wesel.
Eyewitnesses told the German newspaper Rheinische Post that the group “looked Mediterranean,” had beards, and wore their hair long.
They are alleged to have shouted “Islamic remarks” including “Allahu Akhbar,” according to another German newspaper, Junge Freiheit.

This is a worrying development as it’s the first time that nudists, already treated with suspicion and sometimes scorn by some sections of the population, have been directly targetted by extremists, if that was indeed who they were..
Now is not the time to panic. We must stay alert and look out for one another of course, but otherwise, to use an old British wartime slogan, we must “Keep calm and carry on”.

Naturism dying on Western Australian Beach?

Broome Nudist Beach

Since the 1960s, naturists have gathered on a section of Broome’s famous Cable Beach known as “north of the rocks”, to sunbake, fish and swim in the nude.
But veterans of the scene say about a decade ago, things began to change. The local tourism industry boomed, and suddenly, the nudists were coming under close scrutiny.
Read this great article on the decline of nudism in the area. And if you can, get along there, strip off, and give the local nudists some support!

London’s first naked restaurant opens this weekend with 46,000 people on the waiting list

London’s first nude “pop-up” restaurant opened its doors to the public on Saturday (June 11th)

Nude Dining (Stock Photo)

The Bunyadi, as it’s called, was first announced back in April, since when 46,000 people have applied for tickets, which cost £69 each. But The Bunyadi, open in a secret location for three months, only fits 42 people at a time.
The idea is that everything is naked – from the diners to the decor to the food, which is made with raw ingredients and cooked naturally. There’s no electricity and no phones.
“The idea is to experience true liberation,” Seb Lyall, the founder of pop-up company Lollipop which is behind the event, said in a press release. “People should get the chance to enjoy and experience a night out without any impurities.”
Whilst nude dining and naked restaurants and bars are by no means a new idea, The Bunyadi seems to have captured the public imagination in a unique way. Although I’m not a fan of posh dining au naturel myself, in the prevailing climate of new prudery it’s great to see a new nude venue opening up. I wish them every success.
