Because from 1st July 2017, the nudist beaches of Playa Cueva de Lobos/Moreras, Playa Amarilla, Playa de la Grúa, Cala de Leño, Cala Desnuda, Playa del Barranco Ancho and Playa Hondón del Fondo are only accessible on foot or bicycle.
In late June the municipal council of Mazarrón announced that the dirt track running along the coastline between Bolnuevo and the Cañada de Gallego beaches would be permanently closed to mechanised transport from 1st July 2017, limiting access to the stretch of wild and nudist beaches along this coastline to those on foot or bicycle. Elizabeth Morris from UK’s Carvaka Adult Toys has created an interactive StoryMap which charts 10 nudist beaches all over the world.
This is not necessarily our choice; none of the excellent beaches in S.E Asia or Australasia get a mention for example, but it’s interesting insofar as it goes so it deserves a mention –
Nudists were told they would be ‘exterminated’ after a gang of Muslims stormed into a German swimming pool yelling ‘Allahu Akbar’.
Bathers at a nudist beach in northwest Germany say they were insulted and threatened by a group of “Mediterranean-looking men,” one of whom reportedly shouted “Allahu Akhbar” at them.
Staff at the Freibad Xantener Südsee said they were forced to call the police after the men refused to stop abusing naked bathers at the resort, which is near the town of Wesel.
Eyewitnesses told the German newspaper Rheinische Post that the group “looked Mediterranean,” had beards, and wore their hair long.
They are alleged to have shouted “Islamic remarks” including “Allahu Akhbar,” according to another German newspaper, Junge Freiheit.
This is a worrying development as it’s the first time that nudists, already treated with suspicion and sometimes scorn by some sections of the population, have been directly targetted by extremists, if that was indeed who they were..
Now is not the time to panic. We must stay alert and look out for one another of course, but otherwise, to use an old British wartime slogan, we must “Keep calm and carry on”.

Nudist users of Barcelona’s popular Mar Bella Beach say they are being crammed into an ever smaller space and have called on local authorities to act.
While Playa de la Mar Bella is not technically a nudist beach, naked bathing is common place and accepted.
But now naturists claim they are being squeezed out.
Speaking to local television station BTV, nudist groups complained that flags marking out the beach’s nudist area had been moved 20 metres. They also expressed their displeasure at the large numbers of non-nudist bathers in the area and at the parties held at a nearby beach bar which operates in summer, arguing the presence of hundreds of drinkers made nude bathers uncomfortable.
Hi, I’m back
It’s been some time since I last posted anything to my blog.
I’ve been so involved in updating and publishing the new edition of my book
“The Complete Guide to Nudism & Naturism” ( ISBN-13: 978-0385491679) plus taking a two week Mediterranean cruise that for the first quarter of this year I’ve been virtually incommunicado.
Anyway, the book’s published, the vacation is over, and I’m here back in the harness.
Not too much to report on the nudist front though: the news in the UK is dominated by swine flu and the scandal of MP’s expenses: the first issue is potentially too alarming and the other is just too shabby for even me to put a nudist swing on.
One thing did catch my eye, though.
According to Herald.ie, an Irish website, online bookers Hotels.com have nominated two Irish beaches amongst the world’s top ten nudist beaches. I have to say that I’ve been unable to find any reference to this on hotels.com website, but I hope it’s true, as one of the beaches is the delightfully named “Inch Beach”!
Must be the cold!
