Another Good Reason to Become a Nudist: you won’t get eaten by a shark!
According to recent research, an all-over-tan can dramatically reduce your chances of being swallowed up by a shark.
Apparently the flashes of white skin which characterise the bodies of people who rarely expose their bodies to the sun and air help to attract a shark, and alert it to the possibility of dinner being served.
An all-over tan is much less noticeable to a fishy predator, so you’re significantly less likely to end up as the main course.
So before you go swimming in shark infested waters — top up your tan!

A NATURIST swimming resort to be open Saturday has ignited heated discussion in China where public nudity is still taboo.
The resort in Lin’an County of the eastern Zhejiang province was the second attempt by local people to have a naturist tourist site. The first nude pool in Lin’an opened five years ago but was closed two weeks later under fierce public criticism.
Although men and women will use separate, screened pools, the concept of social nudity is alien to Chinese culture and the development has come under attack.
Encouragingly, an internet survey indicated that a majority of respondents supported the resort. It’s a start, but they will need to translate their support into actual visits, and hard cash, if the resort is to flourish.
Previous naturist enterprises have withered and died under the disapproving gaze of the Chinese authorities. We wish this one the very best of luck. It’ll be needed!
Proof that the world recession isn’t wholly a bad thing.
The City fathers of Key West, Florida are “considering whether or not to allow nude bathing at one of their beaches”, citing the success of the designated naturist beach at Haulover Beach Park on Miami Beach.
The clincher may be the economic situation. Commissioners point to the success of Haulover and also the increased tourist revenues of nearby Cuba, which has official nudist beaches.
The commissioners hope to put it to the ballot in October. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!
Hi, I’m back
It’s been some time since I last posted anything to my blog.
I’ve been so involved in updating and publishing the new edition of my book
Nudism and Naturism Guide cover
“The Complete Guide to Nudism & Naturism” ( ISBN-13: 978-0385491679) plus taking a two week Mediterranean cruise that for the first quarter of this year I’ve been virtually incommunicado.
Anyway, the book’s published, the vacation is over, and I’m here back in the harness.
Not too much to report on the nudist front though: the news in the UK is dominated by swine flu and the scandal of MP’s expenses: the first issue is potentially too alarming and the other is just too shabby for even me to put a nudist swing on.
One thing did catch my eye, though.
According to Herald.ie, an Irish website, online bookers Hotels.com have nominated two Irish beaches amongst the world’s top ten nudist beaches. I have to say that I’ve been unable to find any reference to this on hotels.com website, but I hope it’s true, as one of the beaches is the delightfully named “Inch Beach”!
Must be the cold!
